Barbara Hutton was American royalty in the early-mid 1900’s. She loved her jewellery collection. One such gem was her Jadeite necklace. It had twenty-seven graduated jadeite beads of highly translucent bright emerald green colour. The clasp was set with calibré cut rubies and baguette diamonds, mounted in platinum and 18 karat yellow gold. The length of the chain was approximately 20 inches. However, what made this necklace even more spectacular was the size of the beads (19.20 to 15.40mm). In 2014, it sold at auction for US $27.4 million.
